Joshua Lockwood is a British fashion designer whose work centres on the reinvention of classic tailoring for a modern wardrobe. Raised in Berkshire and educated at Kingston University’s renowned College of Art, he first gained attention with his graduate collection Girls of Jagger. The collection explored the intersection of menswear tailoring and feminine expression, inspired by the iconic style of Bianca Jagger—particularly her 1970s white smoking suit—reimagined across a full day-to-night wardrobe.
At just 23, Lockwood was selected from hundreds of candidates to become a protégé of Riccardo Tisci at Burberry. Working as a womenswear runway designer, he contributed to collections that embodied Tisci’s vision of a sexier, more wearable luxury. His work included statement tailoring pieces such as logo suit jackets and leather bustier jumpsuits, sharpening his ability to push classic forms into contemporary territory.
Following his time at Burberry, Lockwood went on to work in Paris at Saint Laurent and Givenchy, where he further refined his runway design expertise. During this period, his signature approach became fully defined: an obsessive study of traditional suit construction, paired with innovative jacket silhouettes, modern internal structures, and a distinctive preference for peak-lapel, slim-fit tailoring.
Lockwood is particularly known for his inventive use of materials, often juxtaposing classic tailoring fabrics with unexpected textures such as leather and snakeskin prints. This contrast gives his work a sense of tension—polished yet provocative—that has dressed cultural figures in powerful, nonconformist suits and earned recognition from publications including L’Officiel.
His collaboration with Fabrique, launched in 2023, marks a natural evolution of his design language. The collection focuses on essential wardrobe pieces defined by clean lines, precise cuts, and high-quality fabrics. Drawing on techniques developed at top fashion houses, Lockwood translates high-fashion tailoring into accessible, enduring garments—bridging runway sophistication with everyday wear.
