With Fabrique since 2024
Vietnamese avant-garde innovator behind Subtle le Nguyen since 2014. Rooted in local heritage, masters experimental textures like mohair knits and layered chiffon draping.
Nhat Viet launched Subtle le Nguyen in 2014 from Hanoi with a clear mission: to root modern fashion in Vietnamese local culture while pushing experimental craftsmanship forward. His signature techniques have become his calling card—puffy mohair knit textures that feel almost edible and wind-like layered chiffon that creates movement even when still. Under his direction, Subtle operates as what he calls an inclusive "home," a space designed to encourage authentic self-expression without boundaries.
The designer's cutting philosophy draws directly from Parisian aesthetics, favoring clean lines and spacious silhouettes that prioritize how the body moves within fabric. But there's intention behind every cut: Nhat Viet deliberately creates physical space to house what he describes as "identity recognition, self-construction, and spiritual existence." His design philosophy celebrates individual subjectivity while emphasizing human connections within communities. He's upfront about his goals—extending his social values through clothing and encouraging unrestricted creative expression from everyone who encounters his work.
Nhat Viet envisions fashion as a "boundaryless creative space" where dance, photography, and music intersect, transforming each garment into part of an artistic journey. His latest collaboration with Fabrique proves this philosophy in action. Drawing from "The Dreamers" starring Eva Green, the collection aims to create a "never-ending summer" that immerses wearers in nostalgic emotions. The pieces depict a mysterious feminine figure with long black curly hair, combining natural fabrics with soft pleating in structural designs that emphasize multiple wearing possibilities from vacation scenes to urban daily life.
