For Adriana and Laerke, the founders of Peruvian label AYNI, design is an act of reciprocity. The name itself comes from the Inca Quechua word meaning “sacred exchange,” a philosophy rooted in equality, respect, and harmony. Recognized by WGSN as one of Latin America’s notable emerging brands, AYNI has built its identity on preserving local craftsmanship while keeping it relevant to modern life.
In 2017, the duo collaborated with the Chanel Foundation and nonprofit CODESPA on a project centered on cultural preservation. It provided professional training and stable income for over 200 Peruvian women, while reviving techniques such as plant-based dyeing, crochet, macramé, and hand-loom weaving. Each piece reflects the Andes not only as a source of prized Pima cotton and alpaca wool, but as a living heritage of skill and wisdom passed between generations.
Their latest collaboration with Fabrique explores a more fluid take on bohemian dressing. The brand’s signature fringes are pared down into clean, kinetic lines—movement replacing ornament. Adriana and Laerke see today’s boho revival as a renewed intimacy with nature, touched by nostalgia yet grounded in ease. AYNI reminds us that craftsmanship evolves best when culture itself is kept alive.
