Background

Senior designer at SIR the label; former advisor to Christopher Esber and Aje. Celebrated for sharp tailoring and fluid silhouettes shaping modern Australian luxury.

Sophie Azar’s career has been built quietly inside Australia’s fashion industry, not around spectacle but through long-term design work. Now based in Queenstown, New Zealand, she has held roles at Sass & Bide, served as a senior advisory designer at Aje and Christopher Esber, and currently works as a senior designer at SIR the label—positions that place her firmly within the country’s premium fashion framework.

Her strength lies in tailoring that adapts rather than performs. Precise cuts and fluid silhouettes anchor her work, shaped by an understanding of how women move through different settings and roles. There’s a clear balance in her design logic: the pace of Sydney’s urban life offset by the ease of the Gold Coast. Clothes are structured but never rigid, designed to transition naturally from work to downtime without losing clarity or confidence.

That thinking carries into her collaboration with Fabrique. Centered on the idea of “urban wilderness,” the collection looks at the tension between city structure and instinctive ease. Clean tailoring meets lightweight fabrics; metallic finishes sit against matte surfaces.
