Inspiration

Ro Hudson looks at classic American sportswear and the mix of menswear and womenswear codes, using that tension to overturn fixed expectations and build something more optimistic. The starting point comes from childhood: he grew up in his family’s school uniform shop, and that memory shapes the collection’s direction. Through a couture-inspired approach to draped, dimensional cutting, he deconstructs the striped school shirt and reworks it into elegant dresses.

Ro Hudson is based in New York and brings years of experience as a luxury fashion design director. His career has moved through Prabal Gurung, Calvin Klein, and Tanya Taylor, giving him a design language shaped by different sides of American fashion. In his work today, that experience comes through in a polished, highly controlled way.
His design is often associated with the style of New York’s Upper East Side, but the appeal is not about polish alone. The cut is fluid, the structure never excessive, and the elegance comes from details that are handled with precision. There is restraint in the work, though never stiffness, which gives the clothes a more assured kind of sophistication.
Earlier in his career, his point of view leaned bolder and more experimental. High-saturation color clashes and irregular patchwork brought a stronger artistic charge to the work, leaving behind a body of design that still stands out in a brand archive. That range matters.
