Background

Marc Jacobs, Reformation, Khaite NY veteran with 20+ years in luxury fashion. Former Creative Director turned design consultant, masterfully balances feminine power with sharp tailoring.

When Manu Santos stages his collections, there’s an unmistakable sense of fearless authenticity that cuts through the noise. The Los Angeles–based designer brings over twenty years of high-end fashion experience to every piece he creates, and his track record speaks for itself. From his foundational years as a senior womenswear designer at Marc Jacobs to his transformative tenure as Creative Director at Reformation, Santos has consistently delivered a dual power that embodies both strength and grace.

What makes Santos particularly compelling isn’t just his impressive portfolio—though his role as design consultant for Khaite NY certainly demonstrates industry respect at the highest level. It’s his distinctive interpretation of American style that carries an unusual sense of masculine precision infused with feminine power. His approach to proportion—whether in elegantly elongated dresses or dramatically oversized pure white trench coats—shows his rare ability to balance sensuality with strength. Beneath the sharp, precise tailoring lies a fearless commitment to authentic self-expression that resonates with contemporary women navigating urban spaces.

Santos’s collaboration with Fabrique draws directly from Bauhaus school classics, extracting the volumetric weight of oversized silhouettes and the fluidity of soft, moving fabrics. This balance of rigidity and flow perfectly captures how modern women move through cities with agile confidence. Layering in emotional depth through the subtle moods of abstract paintings and the warm textures of lived-in spaces, he ensures that even his most structured, tension-filled cuts retain a lingering warmth—the kind that makes autumn and winter dressing so compelling.
