Inspiration

CColin draws inspiration from yarn recycling processes. The factory collects post-consumer sweaters, sorting them by fiber type and color to avoid re-dyeing. These sorted sweaters are cut into front panels, backs, and sleeves, then shredded, carded into fibers, and spun into new yarn. He loves using these different colored panels, connecting them to create new multi-colored sweaters.

Background
Partow's lead advisor, MAXMARA alum. Former Design Director at John Varvatos, VP at Zachary Prell. King's university-trained, known for gender-fluid collections.
Scottish-born Colin McNair began his career at MAXMARA in 2000 after graduating with honors in fashion design from Kingston University London. His early work at the Italian fashion house marked the beginning of what would become an influential career spanning multiple luxury brands.
As John Varvatos' Design Director from 2006 to 2016, McNair specialized in merging menswear and womenswear elements, introducing traditional men's tailoring details into women's pieces and incorporating fluid, feminine fabrics into men's designs. In 2016, he took on the role of Vice President at Zachary Prell, where he spent four years applying his expertise to elevate the brand's menswear offerings.
In 2020, McNair established his own creative consultancy while simultaneously taking on an advisory role at Partow, where he continues to shape the brand's design direction. His design philosophy centers on material innovation and color exploration, backed by a strong commitment to sustainability. Each piece begins with careful consideration of material sourcing and manufacturing processes, aiming to minimize environmental impact without compromising design integrity.
