There's a kind of fluency that only comes from actually making clothes, not just studying them, and it's obvious in Markus Wernitznig's work. It comes from more than fifteen years inside Alexander McQueen, Céline and Tom Ford, and from running womenswear at Loewe — where he led runway, ready-to-wear, special projects and the Paula's Ibiza capsule.
What that fluency produces isn't spectacle for its own sake. Wernitznig works in asymmetric cuts and sculptural draping, silhouettes that refuse to sit still; underneath the technique is a real question about how deconstruction and wearability coexist, how a fold in the fabric can move with a body instead of just sitting on top of it.
That question is exactly what he's brought to his debut collection with Fabrique. Familiar wardrobe staples get reworked through unexpected color and shape; structure loosens into ease without losing its shape entirely — polish and nonchalance, sharing the same silhouette, for a woman built to move fast. "May this garment bring you as much joy wearing it as it brought me designing it," he says of the launch.
