Inspiration

For her “Woven Memories” collection, Carolyn Randolfi revisits heritage knitwear through tweed, cable knits, argyle and Fair Isle patterns, refreshed with richer color and varied texture. Nostalgic in spirit but designed for now, these familiar classics take on a lighter, more relaxed character.
Background
Paris-born knitwear designer who worked with Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, then Prada, Miu Miu and Ralph Lauren, known for retro-modern luxury knitwear with a refined French sensibility.
Carolyn Randolfi came of age in fashion during one of Chanel’s most defining periods. The Paris-born designer worked as a senior knitwear designer at the house during its 1990s revival, collaborating closely with Karl Lagerfeld across both ready-to-wear and haute couture. It was an environment where knitwear was treated with the same seriousness as tailoring—and that precision has stayed with her work.
She later brought that expertise to Prada and Miu Miu as a senior knitwear designer, before moving to New York to become Knitwear Creative Director at Ralph Lauren. Kenzo is also among the major houses she has worked with. Across these different fashion worlds, Randolfi developed a style that balances French polish with a distinctly retro-modern point of view.
