If you've worn a Zimmermann resort piece and thought the tailoring felt sharper than expected, there's a good chance Gabriele Vietti had something to do with it. The Milan-based designer previously served as design consultant for Zimmermann's mainline swim and resort collections, and before that held roles as design consultant at Max Mara and womenswear designer at Jil Sander. That kind of training shows up in the details, even when the mood is supposed to be relaxed. At Zimmermann, Vietti worked within the brand's signature language — layered ruffles, intricate embroidery, lush prints — but pushed it through an Italian lens. The cuts were cleaner, the structure more deliberate. There's a real tension between vintage softness and modern precision in his work, and he managed to keep both sides alive without one overtaking the other.
It's the kind of design that doesn't announce itself. You notice the drape before you notice the construction. Everything feels light and unhurried, but underneath, every seam is considered. That balance between ease and discipline is hard to get right in resort wear, and Vietti made it look almost effortless.
