Background
Sophie Jousse is a luxury handbag designer whose career has been built through hands-on experience at some of the most respected fashion houses in Europe. Her professional journey began at Hermès, where she spent over a decade working across a wide range of leather goods—from small accessories to signature handbags. There, she developed a deep understanding of traditional handcraft techniques, material behaviour, and the discipline required to produce exceptional leather products.

She later joined Celine as a senior leather goods designer, contributing to several of the brand’s most recognisable pieces. Among them was the chain-strap Triomphe bag, where her work helped integrate metal hardware with elongated proportions and the iconic Arc de Triomphe clasp. She also played a key role in developing the Plage collection’s Bucket bags, part of Celine’s first capsule line to include swimwear and beach accessories—an exercise in blending functionality with refined design.
At Fendi, Jousse immersed herself in the traditions of Italian luxury, gaining access to the house’s extensive archives. This experience informed her contribution to the revitalisation of heritage designs such as the double-F logo saddle bags and the Mon Trésor, one of the year’s best-selling small bags. Crafted in rare leathers and widely featured in fashion editorials, these projects reinforced her expertise in balancing legacy with modern appeal.
Now based in Rome, Jousse draws inspiration from the city’s layered history and creative energy, particularly the Monti district. Her collaboration with Fabrique, launched in 2025, reflects this influence. The Monti bag—developed under her direction—features clean lines, thin straps, and a dual-zip construction designed for flexibility from office to leisure. Made in soft leather for everyday use, it embodies her approach to modern urban accessories: refined, functional, and quietly confident.
