Jennifer taps into powerful feminine silhouettes that feel both timeless and effortless. Her modern, clean cuts carry a surprising warmth, while special washing techniques create a subtle glow - like sunshine filtering through bright spring days. Background
Former Design Director at Calvin Klein and DKNY with 20+ years in denim. Created iconic pieces worn by BLACKPINK's Jennie and Kendall Jenner. Amsterdam-based studio houses 300+ vintage pieces spanning a century.
Jennifer Zipp runs her independent design studio in Amsterdam, where her expertise in denim speaks through every stitch. Previously, she led denim design at Calvin Klein and DKNY, creating many iconic collections that defined each brand’s signature style. With over twenty years of experience, she brings comprehensive knowledge—from concept development and garment construction to precision cutting and specialized wash techniques—into her own vision. Her work has earned her global recognition in the denim world, with designs worn by BLACKPINK’s Jennie, Kendall Jenner, and more.
Zipp’s design journey began in New York, where a chance encounter with a West Village oil painter profoundly reshaped her creative philosophy. “She viewed denim through an artist’s lens. The possibilities seemed endless,” Zipp recalls. This experience fundamentally transformed her perception and aesthetic approach to denim. For her, denim design is neither a game of deconstruction nor a mechanical assembly of functions. Instead, she infuses everyday pieces with a feminine perspective and refined tailoring, turning denim into lightweight, stylish essentials.
Her Amsterdam studio houses an extraordinary archive of over 300 vintage denim pieces spanning more than a century. The collection ranges from classic five-pocket jeans to structured jackets and hippie skirts, showcasing familiar names like Levi’s and Lee, as well as strongly Western-styled vintage pieces from Wrangler. These artifacts—marked by unique fading, time-worn textures, and historically rich details—serve as the primary source of inspiration for Zipp and her team’s contemporary creations.
